Calling 2024-25 Room Parent Volunteers!
We are asking for 3 room parent volunteers per class for the school year. Of the 3 room parent volunteers, 1 parent will need to be a room parent coordinator. (All Room Parents must be a current paid PTO member).
Room Parent Coordinator
The Room Parent Coordinator (RPC) is the lead Room Parent who:
- works with the classroom teacher on logistics of the classroom parties
- coordinates the collection of money for party supplies and gifts for the classroom teacher
- is the primary communicator between classroom parents and the teacher
- recruits parents to fill needs as requested by the classroom teacher
Room Parent
The Room Parents are responsible for helping the Room Parent Coordinator (RPC) with planning and assisting with the classroom parties.
Mystery Reader Coordinator (K-1 Only)
The Mystery Reader Coordinator assumes regular Room Parent duties, but is also responsible for:
- coordinating parent volunteers (including themselves) to read to the class
- keeps the classroom teacher informed of the scheduled parents and sends out reminders to parents with their designated time to read (approx 20min max)
ROOM PARENT SIGNUP RULES
- Room Parent sign-up will begin Friday, September 6 at 7:00 am.
- All volunteer roles will be filled on a first come, first serve basis based on sign-ups
- We will close sign-ups after 48 hours, or sooner if all slots have been filled
- Please indicate a first, second, and third choice of classroom (if applicable) to maximize your chances of being selected
- Please indicate if you would like to be the Room Parent Coordinator (RPC), Room Parent (RP) or Mystery Reader (MR)
- Your children must be students in the classroom(s) you select
- Please Note: If selected, you can be room parent to only one classroom
- You must accept and adhere to the D64 Board of Education Policy
- You must be a current member of the Washington PTO
An important reminder about class lists: D64 policy does not allow for teachers to collect student/family information to share with the class. Please work with your teacher to obtain parent information. This information can be obtained a number of ways: through curriculum night, flyers sent home with children, with the aid of the PTO Directory, etc.
